testing patterns
One day a few weeks ago I needed to sew something fun, by fun I mean something new and creative.
Baily was going to be attending a birthday party that next day so why not make a shirt for the birthday girl!
I followed a pattern that I have used in the past, but in the past I have sewn it with knit fabric, not cotton.
The little girls mom loves the color green and she picked this cute polka dot print.
So off I went, sew, sew and sewing. I was familiar with the pattern so it went pretty fast. As I started assembling the shirt it seemed to be looking small. Well sewing with knit material is much different than cotton, and too small it was. It came out really cute and makes a very cute dress for a 2yr old but not a 5 year old girl!!
So onto another pattern I went. This time choosing a new pattern from Craftiness is not optional; Olivia pattern I love her work and had gotten one of her patterns as a gift for my birthday. (sent my husband the link with "I want this for my birthday in the subject line"!) I was a little nervous about this pattern being too small as well so I made the bodice a little bigger then the pattern required. I am overall happy with the pattern and excited to make more tops/dresses. I will not alter the pattern in the future, her pattern sizes are great as is.
My little models!! :)
